We were so close to the stars,
Our wings melted yet we flew afar
Why even do we strive for it?
I thought after feeling it's heat.
They say hell is down below,
Hot, dry and painful to breath.
But why do I feel the same here,
Up in the sky where gods reside?
Oh Icarus is this how you felt?
Went so close just to be proven wrong.
Or was the journey enough,
To make up for your loss?
Oh Midas, how joyful it must have been,
To get it all with a single touch.
But oh how painful it also must have been,
Losing everything with the same.
Oh Prometheus was it worth?
Giving the nature's gift to all,
Only to be tormented eternally,
And remembered by not even one.
Now that I burn away by this star,
I understand all your scars.
For the destination everyone knows,
But the path none.
I seek satisfaction in my torment,
But I'm weighted by a single regret.
I wish I could feel the warmth,
Of you one last time in my arms.
As I freeze away in this silent swamp,
And burnt by my selfish wants.
