Gaze

The cool breeze whispers on my skin, A stolen glance where thoughts begin. And time, it held its hurried pace, When those brown eyes met mine in that space. A sudden turn, those gaze withdrew, "Was I too bold? Did they feel blue?" My own eyes seek them out once more, And find them looking, as before. __________________________________________ The wind came dancing 'cross my face, I turned, drawn by a gentle grace. And there they were, those eyes on mine, Retreating shy, yet so divine. Why do they look, then look away? When I could watch them all the day. Oh, if only I could somehow say, How warm it feels—our eyes at play. __________________________________________ I couldn't resist but follow the breeze again, My restless eyes, still chasing that gaze, And there they are, still locked on me, A gaze that sets my spirit free. I'm the sunflower, turning with grace, And those warm brown eyes, my sun's embrace. Oh, how I adore that playful, bold stare, A confidence my own eyes can't bear. While mine retreat, so meek, so shy, Theirs dance with laughter, never dry. __________________________________________ There, I caught the sneaky black stare, Peeking through wind tousled hair. They turn away but not too fast, As if hoping the moment would last. My brown eyes smile and let a small wink fly, To meet the courage they let slip by. Oh, how I wish these eyes would see, The silent yearning held in me. ___________________________________________ Season's changed yet the gaze remained, But now, I can freely stare at them, For they loved my black stare, While I found my serenity in that brown pair. We speak even in silence, soft and true, Through playful winks and lingering views. I might be lost and confused, But it's a small price to be your muse. ___________________________________________ The language of our eyes has grown From stolen looks to truths full-blown. Now your eyes don't dart or part They hold me whole, they house my heart. And now I know, beyond all doubt, What these exchanged glances are about. It's love unspoken, soft and true, My heart has found its home in you.
